Moving to Calgary is time consuming. Also, Fishmongering is also time consuming, thus missing the last day. May as well catch up when I can.

Six days, six genres, albeit different as is. But I'm thinking of showcasing a ficcery genre known as Underdog. Those fics that deserve so much credit and never get enough of it. Those fics that go unsung except being almost a cult-classic amidst readers. While many have a lot of reviews, people don't stop to think of what makes the story so good, it pulled in so many readers. The answer lies within the fic itself.

The first fic on our list comes from our very own Canis Black and is entitled Hiatus. Set up as a post-season 4 Teen Titans Animated fic, the first chapter shows much premise and attention to detail. I know that I've been waiting for Canis to finish chapter 2 for a LONG time.

The next fic on the list comes from opalish and while it's gathered many reviews, Ginny Weasley and the Pillow of Doom is a quirky little look into the future of book seven as Harry goes off to fight the good fight, leaving the woman behind in classic Damsel Waiting. But Ginny's not quite ready to let him get away with doing that to her.

A lot of Ginny fics are sucktacular at best, especially with Harry acting like a scene right out of Spiderman and consequencially Epilogue, but this is the first that actually circumvents the problems that are inherant with said relationship. Harry hasn't quite gotten it yet, but that girl is TOUGH. I pity him and would gleefully conjour up some popcorn to see the fireworks. Another companion fic that opalish wrote is Harry Potter and the Insert Title Here which is pretty much a summary of what Book 7 SHOULD be in a very remarkably silly bent. Quaffles and Broomsticks. Poor Harry.

SimmyC had his fics introduced to me by way of Edwards, and I had to admit, it was funny to see Shinji waltz around like a 20's Superhero in his fic Valiant Shinji. It's one of those fics that makes you want to cry for everything sacred in Evangelion, and thank your horses it's not a-typical.

Finally, I'd like to end with two fics from XD entitled timeless ageless changeless and The Bridge Above My House. The first deals with a relatively immortal pair which canon Final Fantasy VII seems to hint towards with Vincent and Cloud, going back in time to capture a runaway ball of scentient magic during the time when Zack was annoying Sephiroth. The second deals with a relative under-the-counter hit entitled Radiata Stories wherein you play as the protagonist Jack Russell and can either fight for humanity or the non-humans.

The first is really well done, and has almost faded back into the depths of F.net due to age. Still, the writing is superb and XD has also dabbled in Naruto fictions as well. The second is just Radiata sillyness, as the game on the whole is silly throughout, though don't expect too much silly in the second half if you're playing in the human scenario but I digress.

It's a nice day today. I'd best return my things.
