There are good reviews...
Jun. 2nd, 2006 08:28 am... and then there's the reviews that make me chuckle at them for their inability to realize what I'm doing.
First off, I present the reviews to Element: Air. http://www.fanfiction.net/r/2943157/0/1/ The top should give you an idea of how reviews are like for this story. And then look at the top one for Element: Earth. http://www.fanfiction.net/r/2960720/0/1/
Each one fairly large in nature, and well worth it. Shawn G Evans though, makes me laugh. He's wondering why people get drunk and stuff along with not mixing up formats. Well, that's a reason kept secret for later. From THEM however. People who read my blog can actually laugh manaically when they realize how the next three'll shape up.
More to the point, it's supposed to be a very different world, influenced by ancient eastern culture with no real ban on underage drinking. In short, "Age Limit? WHAT Age Limit?" He probably fails to realize that in Avatar, all three have drunk before, and have no real preservation for modesty. Look at the Cave of Two Lovers incident. Sokka, Katara and Aang were in the water with nothing but their underwear on and only Sokka, being the comedic relief, got embarrassed when the hippie-type minstrals walked along. Aang most likely, during long fasts and meditation drunk beer, since monks during the time and age did so during a fast. Beer holds the nutrients to live, and let's face it; water wasn't exactly the drink of choice back then for fasting monks.
With Xiaolin Showdown, there's no doubt that the characters come from various backgrounds. Different cultures, hell, even different languages. Most people whom they encounter have the Gift of Tongues, meaning they can speak mixed languages at once. Certain personalities also lend to the openness created when in a public area.
W.I.T.C.H. is a bit of a trickier source, but in short, it creates metaphysical openings in the storyline, able to interpret things. People like Hay Lin and Irma wouldn't hesitate to drink if in a social situation, especially in another world and offered by a bartender whose place you just saved or what not. In the old days, you didn't refuse a drink; it just was not DONE.
So yeah, that's my two cents on the latest reviews.
