Dirge of Cerberus

Okay people, you know the drill: NO reading this until you've played it or if you want massive spoilers for the final story in the FFVII universe.

Dirge of Cerberus takes place three years after the aptly dubbed Meteorfall. Since then, Midgar has been 99% uninhabitable with the exception of Edge which lies on the outer part of sector 4 and 5. It's a festival in Kalm the night Deepground rises up to kill those tainted with Jenova and kidnap those who are pure. Of course Vincent is there on the request of Reeve and during the attack, runs into Reeve. Reeve is subsequently killed, and revealed to be Cait Sith in a Reeve-doll. Tricky Yummy Reeve... er, you didn't hear that.

... okay you did.

... Fine, I admit it. I'm straight and I'd do him.

... moving on.

The actual story starts during the evacuation during the fighting in Midgar during Final Fantasy VII and Vincent gets this sudden thought that Hojo is still alive. Yuffie confirms it and he goes up to see Hojo sprawled over the computer console, seemingly dead. Vincent's about to make CERTAIN he's dead when an attack chopper distracts him, and when he turns back to Hojo, the maniac is gone.

Three years later, Vincent is pretty much drafted into helping the WRO - World Restoration Organization help save people who are being attackd by Deepground. A squad in Edge is obliterated by Rosso the Crimson and Vincent turns into Chaos to smack her away like a gnat.

Anywho, Shalua, the head scientest of the WRO also meets up with Vincent, quote "Searching for her reason to live" and that reason is her younger sister Shelke who was took away by Shinra for Deepground when they were little. Shalua is a mess, organs rebuilt, arm gone, eye sealed shut, and her sister has undergone a Presea-situation where she's still physically nine and she should be nineteen.

Vincent discovers information and finds out that Lucrecia had a hand in placing Chaos into his body. Lucrecia also has ties with Vincent's father, Dr. Grimore Valentine as he was the one who showed Lucrecia the cavern where Chaos was to be born, aka Lucrecia's Cave. An accident took his life and she's been beating herself over her head for letting him die. Hojo did indeed experiment on Vincent but it was Lucrecia who discovered Chaos and placed it into his body, as well as a special materia called the Protomateria.

Lots of craziness happens and it's discovered that the Tsviets, the head of Deepground are sacrificing people to create Omega, the ultimate Weapon that will gather all life to it and ascend to the heavens.

Hojo is indeed alive, using a similar method of keeping himself alive by mixing his memory, information, etc into the world wide neural network, like Lucrecia did for herself to help Vincent later on. She apologizes to Vincent for many things, and at the big and tall end of it, Hojo is killed, Weiss is defeated, Omega is blown up by Chaos and in the epilogue a week later, Vincent is saying the things he wanted to say to Lucrecia who sleeps in the cave. Oh, and Nanaki is in the epilogue in all of his fuzzy glory.

If you read this, it's not my fault you were massively spoiled. I haven't even gotten into the nuts and bolts of each scenario too.
