Oh dear lord
The Pokemon TCG is even more broken than the Yu-Gi-Oh one. I don't know how that was possible, but it is. Seriously.
Back in the old days before the new tournament styles, there were two game-breaker cards that provided what Yu-Gi-Oh people like to call Overwhelming Advantage. These two cards were entitled Bill, and Professor Oak.
Bill had the ability to make you "Draw 2 Cards" without any problem. Yu-Gi-Oh players know this as the now-banned Pot of Greed. Free Advantage? Sure it's free, but then you get to run FOUR of those in a deck. Yeah.
Professor Oak was also a life-saver. If you've spent all of your hand, drop an Oak down and draw 7 cards. That's right, 7. It's a game-breaker.
I was flipping through Ray's card binder at his store when I also happened upon the second-most awesome drawing card known to mankind; Misty's Wrath. And boy is it ever wrathful.
The effect of Misty's Wrath is simple. Look at the top 7 cards of your deck, add 2 to your hand and then discard the rest. Terrifying? Now think of that in an old-school Charizard or Blastoise deck. Or Calvin's freaking damn Gengar You-Dead-Now deck... Grr.
Pokemon TCG: New Grounds Verdict. It's broken, and I need to find out if they've changed the meta. Wouldn't want to run 4 Oak, 4 Bill and 4 Misty's Wrath and find out they're banned.
Edit 5 minutes later: Oh man, I'm going to cry. They're pulling a MtG here, which means the Mod-level decks can only use stuff from Hidden Legends and up. Darn you TCG makers for denying me Oak and Bill and Misty's Wrath!
For future ref though, this is good. At least I know if I'm going to get into constructed, I know what sets to work with.
