There are your good work days and your bad work days...
.... and then there are the work days that blow you away.
Case in point today. I was working from around 12 PM to 7 PM today. I thought, hey, it's monday. Barely anyone is going to order pizza tonight. So I kicked back and let things roll. Got three deliveries from 1 to 4 with about 2-3 dollar tips. Not too shabby for a monday.
When 4 hit, THAT was when things got fwierd.
Around 4:30ish or so, I got a delivery. It netted me around 4 dollars tip. Not bad. Then another, a huge one to a family having relatives over. came up to 93 dollars or so but they said, "Make it 100 even." That's about 7 dollars tip right there.
Naturally I'm blown away by the oddity but I continued working. Then the tips start FLYING in. 5 dollars here, 4 dollars here, 2 dollars here, 9 dollars there, 10 dollars...
I made more money in TIPS than I did deliveries. Came up to 11 deliveries at the end of the night BUT I made about twice the amount that I did. Finished the night with over 70 dollars and I was just gaping in disbelief. Shellsey let out a high pitched "WHAT?!" when Amanda tallied up my nights earnings. They're both drivers too and while Amanda was closing manager and Shells was evening driver, the pair couldn't believe how good my day was, considering I worked from opening and most money is made during close.
I think they wanted to kill me for making more money than most drivers in the history of the Lacombe Panago ever did on a MONDAY. The SLOWEST day in the history of mankind for pizza.
Sometimes I think I'm dreaming. Then I check my wallet and chuckle in giddy glee.
