Alternate Universe Nanoha - World of Aces
World of Aces
On a world similar to Lyrical World, a scene played out as a young mage with a keyblade encountered a girl named Nanoha Takamachi in his quest to retrieve Jewel Seeds; powerful items that were rumored to restore hearts. It was here late at night when Heartless appeared, seeking the Jewel Seeds instinctively, as well as being drawn to the keyblade Yuuno carried. In desperation, Yuuno performed the Rite of Inheritance to Nanoha who had come to help him that night.
She took up Defenser Aura and it transformed, adding a new keychain called Raising Heart, turning it into a gold and white piercing weapon. Using it, she fought off the Heartless and reclaimed the Jewel Seed which went inert. Yuuno realized that the girl had a strong enough heart and also realized he was in DEEP TROUBLE as he had inadvertently performed the ritual which gave Nanoha her weapon.
Still with the heartless popping up and since he was wounded, Yuuno had no choice but to let Nanoha train with it, and master the spells provided to her. It took a couple of battles but she was getting the hang of it, until a girl in a black outfit appeared, wielding a keyblade she called Bardiche, which was more like a scythe or an axe. The pair fought over a Jewel Seed that had attracted heartless to Suzuka’s home, and they defeated it, but Fate took the seed.
More encounters followed as Fate and Nanoha fought, keyblade to keyblade, magic to magic until one day, a member of the TSAB appeared called Chrono Harlaown, who ordered them to stand down. Fate and her familiar Arf vanished, and Chrono was working for a Extra-Dimensional branch of the TSAB, similar to the one that patrolled the dimensional space that Lyrical World resided in.
It was found there that only a few people carried keyblades in their world, and a great Order was being founded to teach them what they knew. But with time short, they decided to work on Lyrical World and the heartless, confident that with Chrono possessing his own keyblade, they could seal the rest of the Jewel Seeds.
When Fate forced the activation of a group in the ocean, it caused a reaction which nearly ripped the world apart, pulling giant Darksides into that world. Between Nanoha and Fate who managed to work together with Yuuno and Arf, they destroyed the Darksides but not before Precia took a group of the seeds back with her, and to the world Garden of Time.
There, she was conducting illegal experiments and the group arrived to confront Precia who had previously told Fate that she hated her. Still Fate came despite this, and it was here that Precia revealed that all of this was to regain Alicia Testarossa’s Heart from when she lost it during an accident. She created Fate from experiments on artificial hearts, and named it Project Fate which was an offshoot from the experiments done by Jail Scagaletti.
In the ensuing battle, Nanoha was struck by a keyblade in the chest, and her heart was separated from her body. Her body faded, and a small Shadow was born much to Fate’s anguish. She refused to let the others kill Nanoha and hugged her to her. Their bond caused Nanoha to regain a sense of self, and Nanoha was reborn from it. Enraged that Fate would give up that power since it was needed for Alicia, Precia struck with her own keyblade and tore Fate’s heart from her body, making her fade as well.
Nanoha gave back the power that she took from Fate when the Shadow appeared in a half-formed body, and restored Fate as well. Even with only half a heart each, they took up arms against Precia who turned her own keyblade against herself, and turned herself into a giant heartless. The pair fought against Precia, and defeated her heartless, but Alicia’s body fell into the darkness.
A year passed after these events, and Nanoha was training and recovering when a girl in a red coat attacked her for her heart. For a while it looked like the girl and her talking keyblade (seriously why can all of THESE ONES TALK?) were going to win when Yuuno, Fate and Arf returned. Fate took against a woman in pink called Signum, and her sword-like keyblade as opposed to the hammer-like one of Vita’s. Despite this, Nanoha tried to use the same technique she had made famous to break their magic barrier, but only succeeded in getting damage to her heart from a hand stuck through her chest.
Fortunately, Nanoha didn’t fade as her heart miraculously remained intact, but Raising Heart’s keychain was damaged severely, as with Bardiche’s. While their keychains were being repaired, a message was sent to the Order, who sent their best and brightest to work on the semi-sentient keyblades who then requested upgrades.
It was soon discovered that the cause of it was through the writings of an ancient Belkan researcher, who was only known as X, and the recovery of a magical tome called the Book of Darkness. Having chosen a master, it had created the Guardian Programs, Signum, Vita, Shamal and Zafira, whom Hayate Yagami adopted.
The book’s pages detailed that the full power of the book would be achieved, and the way to Kingdom Hearts would be opened up with the power of seven pure hearts devoid of darkness. They searched high and low, and eventually found seven, including samples of Nanoha and Fate’s hearts. But in the end, the orchestrator of the reckless scheme Gil Graham was discovered, and Chrono received his father’s keychain Durandall from him.
With the defense construct of the book going out of control once the knights were absorbed into the pages, the yet to be named Reinforce went out of control, and fought against Nanoha and Fate. Two civilians Suzuka and Arisa were sucked into the magic barrier, and had to be protected.
Fate was absorbed by the book, where she saw a recreation of what she once believed to be her family life, but knew it wasn’t true. Alicia gave her Bardiche Plus, a new keychain and together with Nanoha’s Raising Heart Excelion, they helped beat back Reinforce who Hayate had asserted control over.
Once Reinforce was separated from the berserk defense program, it created the Data-Berserker, which had to be brought down in stages with the help of Hayate, her Knights and Yuuno, Arf and Chrono. Finally, they managed to get to the core and teleported it into space, where a magical weapon the Arc de Ciel was fired, and it destroyed the core, or so they thought. A little fragment survived and the cast off body of Hayate Yagami was recovered, at a certain cost.
On a distant world known as Twilight Town, three girls woke up with little to say or do. It was here that they roamed the town, until they were found and brought in by a kindly group of people.
For a while, they lived in peace, but soon realized that they were not normal. They didn’t feel anything, an emptiness in their hearts. The three girls named Rai, Yami and Seikou, discovered their keyblades as one, and armed with the keychains Luciferion, Vulnificus and Yersinia Kreuz, the three eventually discovered how to create keyblade gliders and armor, and soared into the ways.
They eventually came back armed with the remains of the defense program of the Book of Darkness where Reinforce had not sacrificed herself. And in a new fight, the Book’s remains created dark images of their friends, armed with the same powers. Seikou found herself crossing blades with many of Nanoha’s companions, as with Yami and Rai, and soon came against Nanoha herself.
Nanoha realized that Seikou was in fact herself, but how she came to be was a mystery. She didn’t realize it or understand it, but the pair fought, unleashing powerful magics and strike techs to weaken one another.
Nanoha was the one who laid a final blow on Seikou, but other than fading away like most of the remains of the Book, Seikou decided that she needed time to herself. Nanoha promised that she would fight her again, and Seikou held her to that.
The three Materials as they called themselves, decided to split up and journey to other worlds to learn what they wanted to do. Seikou’s choice lead her to Disney Town, where she landed and lurked in the shadows for a while. After discovering that heartless also came to this world but less frequently, Seikou wondered why she was chosen to be a keyblade wielder, because she could still feel the emptiness inside.
Taking up the keyblade, she marched into the castle, and waited patiently for an audience with the King to join the Order. Maybe here, she could discover what kind of impact she’d make on their actions.
